The Watchfire Trilogy
The Watchfire
There are no heroes in the city of Othage, only survivors. For years, King Callahan the Fifth has ruled his kingdom through fear, an enabling bureaucracy, and an extensive and violent security apparatus. Yet, a group of individuals from all walks of life work in the shadows to bring greater freedom to their oppressed land. They are dedicated to forging a new dawn for the people of Othage. This group is known as the Watchfire, and their plots will change the face of their world forever.
No matter where in society the members of the Watchfire hail from, whether they are gilded merchants, the poorest of peasants, or even members within the administration of King Callahan, they all labor towards one singular, goal—freedom from the horror and pervasive oppression that haunts their days. The Scarlet Twilight is upon King Callahan’s Othage, and no one in the city will ever be the same.
King Callahan has powerful allies, however. Behind the throne of Othage, waging a brutal campaign against the members of the Watchfire and other groups like them, is the Shadow Queen. If the king is the public face of an oppressive administration, the Shadow Queen is its slashing blade. The Watchfire know that if they fail in their task, fates far worse than death await them beneath the looming fortress of the Kalemegdan.
Will the Watchfire, the ragtag group filled with spies, saboteurs, and assassins, be able to overthrow King Callahan and take control of the kingdom of Othage? If they can, how will they be able to restore peace to the downtrodden citizens of a realm that has known nothing but war and oppression for most of living memory? The Watchfire Trilogy is a tense, dangerous world filled with the strongest who live in the shadows and endeavor to bring a better day to Othage through any means necessary.
