Introducing Two New Columns: Character Study & Background Noise

I get a lot of questions about inspiration for my books— where do the ideas for people and places come from? Do I draw inspiration from real people and places? How do I go about crafting a believable personality?

I think this Facebook page will be a good medium to explore these ideas in a consistent manner. You can think of it like a blog. Something to update a bit more regularly than every year when a new book rolls out. I very much enjoy the process of creating these worlds and the people that populate them. So, as an exercise and a study in the creation of stories, I am bringing two new columns to this page that I will update every two weeks.

One will be called Character Study and here I will talk about some of the popular characters from my book and how I went about writing them. The next one will be Background Noise. This one I will go into detail about the environments, places, and settings of my worlds and where my inspiration came from for them.

I hope both of these new columns will be informative for everyone and also give people an idea of my thought process while we wait for me to finish my next book. I will write a column every two weeks, with occasional interruptions from traveling and work and whatnot.

I hope you all enjoy and I look forward to your feedback.
